No doubt the pro-abortion-rights people felt very clever when they chose the not-quite-the-point name "pro choice" for their position, but I think they shot themselves in the foot. It is not and never has been about choice. Women have choice. In fact it is a felony second only to murder to force a woman to have sex against her will. Women have choice, more so even than men, as it is.
What this is about is women wanting a second bite at the apple after making a bad choice. THAT is the issue. And by the way, it involves killing your own child, which I have never seen not leave a terrible scar across a woman's entire rest of her life. We can all reverse bad choices by killing someone -
But yes, I and most people are all about pro CHOICE - but that choice is made when you have sex, not 60 days later.

Spare us the "I am personally against abortion but believe in the right to choose" baloney.
You do not believe abortion is killing human life. If you did, you could not state that people should have the right to choose to perform that action. I can't choose to kill my neighbor, as he is human life.
There are many medical procedures that people do not have "choice" or "freedom" about. I cannot even send my kid to school with a pain reliever to relieve headaches, because there is no doctor's note authorizing her to have it. Even if we have the doctor's note, she can't have it with her. She can't even get her ears pierced at the mall without my permission, but some goon can take her across state lines to get an abortion??!!
War is killing. Indeed, innocent life is killed during a war as well. Most countries and events shouldn't lead to war, including Iraq. But there are definitely valid reasons to go to war. Millions of Europeans, especially Jews died in concentration camps: reason enough? Millions of Russians were killed by Communism either directly or indirectly: reason enough? The difference is that innocent deaths in a war are typically not the strategy of the warring nations, whereas the deliberate death of innocent life is the sole purpose of abortion.
Jesus did teach compassion, and died for all sins. But do not portray as pro-choice. He did not tolerate money-changers in the temple and violently threw them out. He did not condone or tolerate sin, but expected people to turn away from sinful lifestyles. He did not "cast the first stone," but he did state, "go and sin no more." Compassion, but with the expectation that the behavior and sin would end.

Abortion is killing a baby. You and I (being men)cannot kill our baby after it is born, but the mother can kill her child anytime before the baby is born.If I were to kill a pregnant woman,I would be charged with 2 deaths. Every time an abortion happens, someone dies.My wife is an OR nurse and says there are virtually no reasons to ever kill the baby to help the mother health.Jesus does teach compassion, especially for the innocent, not for those who chose to kill babies.Jesus also say we must fight evil wherever it is,that is why we are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, that is why in the civil war we fought to end slavery,in WW2 we fought to stop Hitler and the Japanese, etc. There are many good reasons to stand up and defend the innocent, whether you are a child,Black,Jewish.....

You are a little mixed up but don't worry, I am here to set you straight. Being pro-life does not mean you are "judging" people.
I agree that we shouldn't judge women who have had abortions. We need to be compassionate as many of them regret it and have to live with horror, guilt and shame for the rest of our lives. Rather, I think we can learn from them, as many of them are now speaking out AGAINST abortion. And remember, Jesus is all about forgiveness...But being pro-life is not judging. You can love the sinner but hate the sin.
If you want to view abortion as a medical procedure, as you say, then why do we need abortion clinics? Couldn't a hospital do it if a doctor felt it was medically necessary (or in rape/incest cases)? That sure would cut down on abortion-as-birth-control, now wouldn't it? Did you know that rape/incest cases account for less than 2% of abortions?
Now, back to Jesus. It was He who said at the Last Supper, "This is my body, I give it up for you (so you can LIVE)..."
Don't you find it interesting that the pro-choice people are saying just the opposite: "This is my body, I give it up for no one (so you can DIE)...?"
I will conclude with that.

Your position makes a lot of sense and might i suggest to you that in posting this question you seem conflicted by perhaps a church or religious group?? If they are attempting to sway you to their fanatical ways run and as fast and as far as you can get from these ppl.. If you are a republican might i also suggest a trip to the registrar of voters in your area and become a Democrat and remember Jesus was a Liberal ...why do you think they killed him? Those claiming him today probably would chase him off instead of let him in their churches, he never had his own money, lived and ate off handouts from others and hung out with 12 other homeless guys and an ex-prostitute and who knows who else. If a guy like that came into your town wouldn't the really upstanding citizen's be complaining he needs to be run off or jailed?

No problem. You state your case well and don't let the nuts here tell you you are wrong. I respect your views just as you respect the views of those you don't agree with. The key is choice, not government control

Despite what conservatives would have you believe, very few prochoice people are proabortion.

Thanks for sharing. It makes sense in the way that allowing your next door neighbor to have parties at 3 am makes sense.
