I would, yes. Uninstall all the software and reinstall it. Make sure you are running a compatible windows systems. After that, you can call the manufacturer to troubleshoot.

I dont think there is anything to reinstall? Are you saying it came with software? As far as I know, the Sansa and all other generic MP3 players don't have software (EXCEPT, there might be a disk for driver for Win98). But on WinXP/2000, it should just plug and play. Perhaps you aren't aware of whats suppose to happen.

1a) You plug the USB cable in computer and mp3 player
1b) The first time you do this, it will say Found New hardware and after clicking Next a couple of times, it will be ready.
2) Open up My Computer. You should now see a new drive letter appear (ie E: Removable Disk).

3) Find MP3's on your computer. Drag them to the new drive letter (or right click, Copy an Mp3 file, and then Right click, Paste (not Paste Shortcut) on the new drive letter.

Most MP3 players will work by just copying the files to the new drive letter, like mine. My son has some no name brand player that has a folder called Media on the new drive letter. For his to work, the mp3's have to be installed in that particular folder, else his player shows no songs on it. But that is normally not the case.
