Our observation tells us that things happen around, these are the things that we notice; but there are still things that happen but we do not notice happening. The things we observe happening, appear to happen due to displacement in this world.

The difference caused by displacement are like when you remove something from its natural or original position that thing tries to acquire its good state of balance again; as when you release a homing pigeon it will head back home as fast as its can. Similarly all things in the universe are displaced and all things are trying to find their way back into their original state of absolute balance, harmony and settlement.

When, for example, rains falls the water vapours rise first from ocean to form clouds that then are carried away by the winds colder regions. The clouds condense and their vaporous contents turn into droplets of water that then fall in places far from the places where they rose. Why does rainwater fall in droplets of rain? Because a quantity of water has been lifted up to high altitudes from warm atmospheric regions to colder ones.

This notion can be further explored if we consider an example of a turning wheel. The wheel turns for an outside observer, but for an insect sitting on the wheel, or fixed on the wheel somehow, wheel is always at a stand still; the rest of the world is turning. As we live upon this Earth that is rotating round its axis at the speed of about thousand miles per hours, and going round the Sun at the same time at the speed of about sixty thousands miles per hour, but we do not notice all this multiple movement. The reason is that we are never displaced from the Earth; we are properly placed upon it instead.

We notice things happening round us just because we are not all those things; we are observers. We normally do not notice powerful spasmodic movements in our own body, like our stomach digesting food, but when something goes wrong we know just too well that it has. Similarly, a part of the engine of your car if properly in place would do its function however powerful and vital that may be quite unnoticed, but whenever a wheel for example is even slightly out of place round its hub you know that that wheel is turning.

If all things were but one, noting different from the rest, then nothing would have happened, and if there were things happening nothing would have been there to stand anywhere to observe something happening to someone else. According to this principle nothing would have existed, not existed, died or lived – if all things in the universe were but just the same.

As a Buddhist, one believes that there is a reason for every action and reaction. Now, the purpose might not be clear to us, but it is there never the less. As a student of statistics, I know that in the normal distribution there are what are called tails at each end that account for 10% of the total. One can see that in the distribution there are real possibilities for infrequent events that some may claim are miracles. As a RN for many years, I worked in critical care. I have seen folks die that I thought would live and some walk out of the unit that I thought would die. I have witnessed events that I can not explain using normal logic. I can not tell you what you seek only that it is within yourself. May you have a blessed day.

They don't. You only THINK that they happen; in reality, there is no answer to this question because it never happened. Therefore, my answer, as your question, is null. Cause and effect are illusions created in your head to make you feel like you can have some sort of control. You push a door, it opens. Cause and effect. If you didn't push the door, it wouldn't open. But you can't prove that. Perhaps some unseen force would push that door open for you. Do not try to open the door. Let the door open itself and then you can walk in. Vote for Nader.

Things happen one after the other. Go outside and you will see.

They just do! Some things you can control and make happen. Other things (the weather, death etc) happen that are beyond your control. But you control how you deal with life. You choose how to react when things happen. Your life is in your hands.

Nothing happens on its own... everything in this universe is caused, whether we know or not, whether we can find out or not.

This is the universal law.... however, our logic does tell us that while everything is caused, the very First Beginning could not have been caused by this universal law... therefore we assume that The Beginning was caused by the will of God. I believe that this is the chain of logic that must have led human beings to conceptualize God!!

Life is what we make it.

As I would always say. We have complete control over ourselves. It's in our hands, our decisions, that would lead us to the other. Talking about destiny, it's in God's plans and no one knows it but Him alone. If you don't get what you want, He just wants you to strengthen your faith. And if you still don't get it, God has other plans better than what you want to get... :)
