You probably went to the north side of the island. Its very green and does rain a fair bit. The south side Playa Das Americas and the like are far safer of you want fine weather. I went end January a few years ago and although it wasnt raining it was very foggy sometimes

The weather eh! unpredictable - unless you live in Scotland - its guaranteed to rain everyday... it usually is warm'ish in Tenerife in January.. it was just bad luck I suppose.... its like the time I was in Mallorca in July and it P'd down for 4 days ....

If you are looking for sun then it´s safer to go to the south :
Playa de las Americas,
Los Cristianos,
Costa Adeje
rather than the north.

If you go in Feb, don´t miss the Carnaval in Santa Cruz!
