James bond style!
Tape an inconspicus thead of hair across any door/cabinent you think they might be going into, if the hair is snapped apart you know they got in!
Or leave some ridiculously false info partially hidden, if you hear them talking about it you know they snooped.
Go to any card store and get one of those new musical cards. Tape it inside whatever book/diary you don't want them in, so when they open it the music 'alarm' will go off

Clear tape is definitely the way to go. As high up on the door as possible so it won't be seen. Give a start on tearing before you place it so it won't just peel off the door when it's opened. Just a slight tear in it. If it's completely torn then you know somebody opened the door.
One strand of hair is also good.
Also, one of those burglar alarms that goes off when a door is opened, it goes off because when the door is opened it pulls a "plug" out of the base of the alarm. Really loud & would scare the crap out of them.

Little bit of tape on your door and frame, if broken you will know, also put things in slightly odd positions so you can see if they have been moved? balance a bit of paper on a handle so if used paperwill fall. Or set up a web cam and record!!!

i agree, if you have a camera, lay a trap, arrange things deliberately in a particular way, open a drawer slightly, the snooper wont know how the drawer was left, wen u collect your evidence, either keep quiet or confront, depending on who the snooper is, a child or adult, woteva you choose, watch very carefully. i have a snooper teenager who doesnt know i know, keeps me on my toes tho

Buy a $40.00 voice recorder and place it where no one should be.
The noise on the recorder will prove someone was where they shouldn't be. This may be cheaper than a camera.
