Or do they? He gets his points and assists, but does he ever make a key steal in a game? Can he ever shut down a good scorer?Playing defensive is part of being a good player,as far as I know.

kobra,I believe he does.I really haven't watched much of him to see anything, giving my opinions from looking at box scores: 25 points,15 assists,no steals, never in foul trouble...

Making your team better is what makes an MVP.

"But scoring helps your team the most." I hear you say.

Would you rather have one player who gets double or triple teamed because you know the ball is always going to them? Or one player to creates plays for every other player on the team, bringing out the best in each one of them. Kobe might bring the points, but no one is more selfish on the court than him.

On defense: as it has been mentioned before, no one in the NBA plays defense, especially guards. If you want to see good defense, watch the NCAA.

And don't be angry about Nash winning the MVP and not being American, because if Nash doesn't win again, it'll be Dirk and he's from that funny, far off place across the ocean. Europe, I think they call it.

because the entire nba fan base is completely brainwashed by the media as to what an mvp actually is. assists are, for some reason, considered more valuable than points, when really it's the players around nash that make him so great. he is overrated/overhyped, out of control, and horrible on defense. i have a lot more to say about why nash shouldn't be mvp but i don't have the time to talk about it right now.

Someone once said that there's 94' of hardwood to play on which means there's more to the game than the offensive side there's defense and steve nash isn't well known for that, but Guys like Kobe, D-Wade, KG etc. etc. are well known for that that's why there better players than nash because they're all versatile players who can do everything for their team and I mean Everything, not just score and get assists which Makes you more of an MVP to a team!

For his size he does a very good job on the defensive end. Taking charges, making switches and even going up for the defensive boards on occasion. Just because he's not among the league leaders in blocks and steals doesn't mean he's not hustling on the defensive side.

i think this is the best time to consider his defensive capabilities which as far i know isn't good enough to win his triple mvp's. nash is one of a kind player which makes everybody better on offensive end but how about the defensive end? it will make sense if he can improve on his defensive skills and push the suns to a nba crown.

He's an MVP for his incredible play-making ability. Wherever he goes, his team wins. That's the most important thing of all.

I totally agree, I'm tired of that little mountie stealing ti all away from other players who play just as hard and well as him.
