Nobody "owns" a name and your name is not your identity. It is simply a label. Your identity comes with your unique personality. Ten people all with the same name are still going to be 10 very unique individuals.
Plus, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

My name is Rebecca, and that's a pretty common name. There is a lady who lives in my same county with the same first name, middle initial (different name, though), and last name. She is about 15 years older than me, and embroiled in a lawsuit against her town. People mix me up with her all the time when I try to make dentist appointments, order newspaper subscriptions, when I registered to vote, etc. Apparently, she's not a very popular person, but I've never met her.
That doens't really make me mad or anything, I find it kind of funny.
What does kinda irk me is that I had my son in February, and then in December a family member had triplets, and they gave the boy the EXACT SAME name as I gave my son, first and middle. I think that's just rude, really. We threw out several names we liked just because we knew other kids who had it, other family members. And they aren't even a year apart!

Morgan is a pretty popular name. There are billions of people in this world...the names have to repeat a few times. I always hate finding someone with the same name that is skanky, mean, or just ditzy. But at least here I never know the personality traits, lol.

This is one of the reasons that I kept my uncommon last name as a middle name when I got married. I didn't want to be one of several Gina Marie (insert fairly common last name)'s on this planet. Now I have a name that's as unique as I like to think I am!

That's better than someone having the exact same name as you, living in the same state, and having a close birthdate...
I knew someone who had the exact same name as me (first, middle, and last), lived in Texas at the same time as me (though we were 2 hours apart), and her birthdate was 2 months before mine...
Her boyfriend in Greece had IM'd me looking for her, and it was so weird, and I hated it. Especially since my last name is very uncommon, and I can count the number of people I met with that name who weren't related to me on one hand...it was very grrrr

I get kind of offended when someone asks for my kids names and then they end up using one of them. The complete first and middle name combination. That irks me a bit since it is NOT that hard to think of a name for your kid. I had issues naming my kids, but I still wound up with 4 kids with their own names. Not something I stole from someone else because I was too lazy to think of my own name.
Now if I just ran across someone at random who had the same name, it wouldn't bother me. But asking for your kids names and then using one them is tacky, unoriginal and lazy.
