When my wife bought her first bike in 2001. It was a '99 650 V-Star. The guy had put the bike up for sale and moved away for a work related reason....Sharp loaded with all of the accessories.... She made the dealership call him on his cell phone in another state and make him a counteroffer of $500 less....He was tight for money and did the deal......When it came to move up she put an ad in the paper with all the info and a price...guy calls and offers her less.....she hangs up on him.....he calls again and offers a little more she hangs up again.....next day he calls and arranges to bring the money........She then took her money and offered a local police officer acquaintance the pay off on his two year old custom 1100 V-Star. With a lowering kit, Cobra pipes, special edition floorboards, stingray seat, drag-bars... At the time he was trying to buy a new truck and needed to get out from under the bike note so she got it for what he owned the bank. I would say my wife got the better deal on all three transactions.
thanks

Being an owner of a belt driven Yamaha Roadstar Warrior I am okay with the belt. Less maintenance than a chain but more maintenance than drive shaft. You will lose a little performance in some areas with a drive shaft. The only thing i don't like is it seems to me that on the shaft driven rides, i can feel the side with the shaft. Kind of hard to explain. Being used to the chain and belt rides, i cant seem to get used to a shaft. So, YES. the shaft drive is reliable. I just dont like them.

it depends on who has the better negotiation skills. My boss just purchased a bike yesterday, after having his brand new one stolen. It was a used one but it was still 2006. They were asking 9200 and he was willing to pay, but his wife went in and negotiated all the way down to 8100. So i see it as the better negotiation skills.
