Here are some interesting ones and reasons too-
1. Avatar: the Last Airbender- I think the plot is just so interesting, and the characters are so well drawn (especially Prince Zuko ^_^). Also, it's a little different than Japanese animation, this American animated series bases the whole "bending styles" on Chinese martial arts which is really cool because I do Karate.
2. Sailor Moon- I absolutely loved that show, especially the movies. Just a good plot, and cool characters that are very in-depth.
3. Cardcaptors- Sort of like Yu-Gi-Oh, but this came first, this girl has to save the world from a bunch of killer cards that mostly start with "the" e.g. "The Fiery, The Water, The Freeze, The Silent." Cool show also.

Maybe you can watch Mirumo de Pon because it has comedy, magic, romance, action,and many more. Or maybe Yakitate! Japan it has comedy and a little romance. Black Jack has a many interesting and suprising things. At Sunny Pig it has a bit of wierdness. Im sure you're gonna enjoy it!

Naruto, it's about ninjas and its plot is incredibly interesting, Fullmetal Alchehmist is awesome too, but I personally like the manga better than the adapted anime version, there are tons of anime, just try them out and see how you like them, ^^

One Piece, Ouran High School or Fruits Basket!!! the movie very fun especially is the Fruit Basket very meaningful!! i also want to introduce the naruto but i see so many people introduce already =_=

I would say Card Captor Sakura (my favorite =D)
Kanon, if you want to spend hours crying T__T xD..
Canvas 2 is very nice too and Fruits Basket is very funny.

Dragonball Z/Gt because it`s history!Db is the best story ever, charachters are the sweetest,funniest and stupidest ever!
Goku is a lovable little big man!
Vegeta is the biggest a*s ever(though hot)
Gohan is the sweetest
Trunks is so admirable and as goodlooking as his dad(veg)
