i kept on trying the ultra ball, with moltres (for example) asleep, so low hp..so weak already but it kept o being free. i cant use the master ball coz i will use it to catch mewtwo.

If you have Emerald, Ruby or Sapphire, trade a pokemon to firered with timer ball attached. Get at least ten and then stock up on 50+ ultra balls. Come with a pokemon that knows sleep or can induce paraylsis. Save and attack moltres and whittle its HP down and then start paraylis/sleep. Then start chucking ultra balls, if you haven't caught it by 15, then throw a timer ball. By then you should have been in battle enough times for the timer ball to catch Moltres.

your details doesnt make sense the ultra ball was made for these chickens... maybe its because your active pokemon (the pokemon your using) doesnt have a higher level usually when the old sleep them and beat em up badly way is the easiest way but since some people mentioned capture rate is affected when the pokemon's level s higher than the one being caught
