Well most people assume Im arrogant, conceited, snobbish, or rude to name but a few things people mistakenly label me because Im not particulary a talkative person.
When in fact I am at times quite shy, (particulary around those I dont know).
Also I choose to refrain from talking alot unless I really have something to say - I dont talk just for the hell of it. Too many people talk too much, and much of what comes out their mouths is incorrect, lies or crap.
Also talking too much can be a sign of nervousness.
Good Question though, Im interested to know what esle people think of quieter types like me.

It depends on their body language, If a person is very quiet I will observe them before I form an opinion. But I think in general people might see it as negative because I was extremley shy when I was younger and lots of the time people would assume I was stuck up or rude.

Not being talkative does not imply anything negative, maybe their busy listening to others, or maybe they just don't feel the need to participate in humdrum everyday bullsh*t, possibly saving what they have to say until there is something to really be said.

According to Zig Ziglar, the vast majority of people are introverts, or "shy". I think these folks are delightful, because I have a big mouth. Imagine a blabber having a constant audience....it's heaven!!!!

I personaly thought that the person is a shy. the person might not comfortable with the the surroundings and felt intimidate by the situation and people around him/her..
but if you are his/her friend, why donn't you start the conversation and make him/her more comfortable to the surrounding.. he/she might show their real personality ...
who knows.. just give it a try....

No, my general feeling is that a person's intelligence is inversely proporitional to how much they talk. So when I meet someone that doesn't talk much, I usually figure that person is smart and is listening and taking in what others are saying.

What can I think. It's not much to form an opinion on. I sometimes am not talkative if I have nothing worth saying. I would rather someone not be talkative than to waste my time with meaningless chatter.

I would assume the person was shy and there is nothing wrong with shy. It will only become hard to deal with if you keep talking but the person just doesnt respond.

It depends....you can tell somethings by their body language. I think most are just shy or a bit uncomfortable. Others give you the feeling that they just don't have anything to say to you.

Some people are harder to chat along with than others. But my hubby he can get ANYONE chatting!!....he talks to EVERYONE of all ages and cultures and can waffle to them for hours....even the most shyest person he has a knack of bringing them out of their shell!! I dunno how he does it, he's just got the "gift of the gab" I spose
