good question actually.all though they both play centre midfield, they have different roles.hargreaves is more of a defensive midfielder who works hard and does all the donkey work while carrick is a more attacking midfielder who trys to get on the ball and play the perfect pass.i would agree that fergie panicked in buying carrick,he knows himself that he paid way too much for him

i think we've all changed our minds on hargreaves after his good performances in the world cup (at last playing in the position he plays in at club level) but i wouldnt say that carrick was a panic buy. He is a superb passer of the ball and he is still young. I think if hargreaves joins them, they will have a great new midfield partnership in a few years. Shame really as i cant stand Man utd.

I've made this comment before but Carrick was a panic buy - a horrendously over-rated player and 18million over-priced too. When you consider the wealth of central midfield talent in the premiership he really couldn't hold a candle too.
He does not deserve a place in the England squad above the likes of Nolan or Barton. Rudolf made a f**k up with Carrick he knows it and so does the rest of the premiership.

Without a doubt. However, as good as both players are, they do not come close to filling Mr Beckhams boots for the part he played ay Man U. The player that Man U needs right now to strngthen their impressive squad is a midfielder that can take players on and unfortunately there isn't a british player capable of that. The search needs to be widened to foreign players and one player that stands out is Daniel from Sevilla. He is young with lots of pace and amazingly skilful and importantly is a team player. Needless to say he is Brazilian.

no hargreaves is a totally different kind of player, i would say he is a long term replacement for scholes. carrick is more of a cultured midfielder in the same mould as hoddle give him time and he may eventually be half as good as god.

Why might they desire him? they have better gamers at Manchester already and Owen's salary demands are continually severe. not in basic terms that yet he's harm companies. additionally he's tiny. Why replace a tall guy with a small one? Rooney's way better yet additionally not tall so he desires somebody like Saha at his ingredient. merely greater paper talk. in the past retiring i substitute right into a financial corporation supervisor and considered one of my purchasers substitute right into a reporter for the sunlight (newspaper?). He informed me that they make up maximum of their memories when I asked him how he knew that Roy Keane needed £40,000 a week some years in the past. He suggested they simply plucked that decide of the air as what they concept he could ask for. for my section i don't purchase newspapers to any extent further through fact maximum of what they print is lies. This tale falls in that classification.

Fergie is a very shrewd manager, he's simply rebuilding a new young squad, that will continue when Giggs, Scholes, Neville etc. retire.
