I just can't stand him. Every other episode it seems that Jack is running off to rescue someone then moaning about the fact that he doesn't want to be the leader. Even more irritating is the way the other islanders treat him like some sort of man god. No matter what happens someone always says "get Jack!". Can't decide between eating a mango and pineapple? Get Jack!

Also, if Jack was the only doctor on the island you would force him NOT to be going off rescuing people all the time. He is too valuable to be killed on one of his Captain Jack escapades. Then again even when he is doing his job as doctor he is usually doing it with a grim expression and muttering about how hard it all is. Well don't do it man!

Hopefully, he will die in one of the future episodes. Or at least disappear for a season. Replacement? Sawyer of course!

What are your opionions on "The Shepard"?

Lol! I loved your sarcasm! (about choosing what to eat!Lol) Yeah, I am not a fan of his either..I don't like the fact that he's respected just due to the fact he's a doctor..If Sawyer saved the world, next day everybody would forget it becasue he's a "bad boy" (as far as I'm concerned he's the best..Never threw a punch, always letting the others hit him) But if Jack said something & it was correct then he's The God! If he's wrong & almost kill them, still, he's Jack so everybody would've forgotten about it & keep worshipping him. Irritating I'm telling you!

I'm not keen on him either, he's soo overrated, he's utterly boring, I know the producers had him lined up as the favourite male character in it, but he so isn't, I much prefer the lovable rogue that is Sawyer and the interesting Locke. Why the heck is he the so called leader anyway, just cos he's a doctor, he certainly wouldn't tell me what to do, he seems to think he's better than everyone else and seems to look down at others including Locke, he moans when he's seen as the leader but also dosn't like it when one of the other male characters uses their common sense and decides to take action over something/ a particular issue, he's sooo dull and miserable, no wonder Kate finds Sawyer more appealing!

Because Jack was such a flawed character it was easy to get way too much of him. I felt the same way about Kate. Jack spent way too much of his time screaming at people and making bad decisions to be appealing. Then as someone already mentioned there was the way he treated his first wife when she finally got fed up and found someone else. I didn't like the finale of the series and didn't think Jack really redeemed himself. And really, who on earth would follow daddy Christian anywhere? How did he get to be the afterlife guide? Jack isn't bad looking but his personality and intelligence weren't anywhere compared to Sawyer's. No, he never made it as my #1 male character in the series. My favs were Hurly, Sawyer and Locke.

No, I don't see that as a trend at all. Some people may find certain characters *annoying*, while others love them. I happen to like Jack, Kate and Claire. By the way, you really can't say that they ONLY kill off the likable characters. They've killed off some that were not too popular, such as Nikki and Paulo, Ana Lucia, Charlotte (sort of) and a host of other lesser known characters.

Absolutely agree, his obsession and stalking of Sarah and her new boyfriend shows what an arrogant sob he is. He only seems to be able to deal with people if they are subordinate to him, that's why he'll be the one to join the Others eventually.

Though if I was a Lostie, I would be kind of hoping he would get killed in his escapades. Notice how the beach lot don't seem to be too worried that he got himself captured.

And both Kate and Ana-Lucia saw reason and slept with Sawyer instead of Jack. Women are the best judge of character.

They're all too dependent on him!!! Jack should hold doctor workshops on how to:
a) Run from a polar bear
b) Remove a dagger/bullet
c) What is unsafe in the jungle.
Don't you think?

It was good at first but i think it has now played out too far but then people are like that and end up relying on one person so it is very realistic.

However, did you know that in the original script for the pilot episode, Jack was supposed to be killed by the monster but he was just so good they couldn't do it.

You are completely crazy?!! Listen, he's a doctor. He's a strong man. He's intelligent. He's a born leader. And he's the (second) hottest guy on the island. I, too, think he's a bit of a god.
