Apart from Tribute? Gotta be Stairway to Heaven - preferably the live version from The Song Remains The Same album.

What a tough question! The BEST song in the world? The only one you can take when you are cast away on a desert island?
I narrow it down for starters. Stairway to Heaven is certainly there for me - I was blown away by the LZ concert at Wembley arena when they did one of their first live performances after the album. Knocked my socks off. Also in there is The Lemon Song by LZ just because it is so deliciously erotic (Remenber I am alone on a desert island now!).
Recalling youthful tangles with ladies and illegal substances makes me suggest you check out 'Rip this Joint' by the Stones - frantic and exciting. Also Honky-Tonk Women b y the same.
Another thought - 'Hollywood Nights' - Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band. Fine jazzy rock'n'roll and fabulous alto sax.
Do I have to pick one only? To listen to for the rest of my life maybe?
But what about Van Morrison? Moondance?
I can't answer. I can't honestly say what the best song in the world is, even though my music collection spans 25 years and three walls of a room.
And I haven't even gone into classical songs, some of which can be heart-breakingly beautiful. I wish I hadn't tried to answer your very tough question! But you're still spot-on with Stairway to Heaven! And I don't know why you prefaced your question with an apology! I don't know whether it's the best, but it has to be damn near.
