Picasso did a lot more portrait type work than just the 'weeping woman' style stuff. If that's what you've decided to do, it isn't that difficult of a method although don't expect it to just look like a masterpiece... Picasso was a REALLY good painter, regardless of what style he was using. The basic method of abstraction in cubism is to break down the planes of the face, and put many of them on the "front" plane. Think in terms of unfolding a cube and laying it out flat like a piece of paper. As for bulking up your work, it's not clear that your work is necessarily lacking anything except for your own confidence in it, so you'll have to ask yourself why aren't you confident in your work and what would help you regain that confidence.

You have to try to get into the mood of how Piccasso felt when painting the "Weeping Woman". Try finding out a little more about the picture itself - the story goes that it is reflecting the mood of the woman who was Picasso no longer wanted in his life. You need to find a image of someone who feels in that same mood if possible. Good Luck!

If you look at the photography of real Dora Marr you'll see that she is quite different that the one in the picture. I think you have a lots of possibilities. Here is one:

You just have to use a lot of lines, you have to analyze her face, and use a mass of color. Don't forget the contour. You can also consider details, such as a hat, earrings, greek nose, hairstyle...
good luck
