The Center of mass of a body is a point where the mass is focussed (or around which it is equally distributed. The Center of mass for earth would be the dead center of the spheroid that the earth is. Mind you - don't try to get to it - I am told that it is a place hot enough to melt rock into plasma.

The center of mass of the planet Earth is the place where there is the same amount of mass above and below, and left and right, and behind and in front.

Grates are the things in the street, that rain water runs into. Do you have one next to your door step?

The center of mass is the center of the earth; otherwise it would wobble as it spun.
