Find answers to the following questions:
1. What´s a relevant topic in your area of investigation?
2. What would you like to research?
3. Can you pick a topic that match the two answers above? Which one?
4. (A) Do you have the required background knowledge?
(B) If not, do you have access to books and articles about the topic you have selected?

In other words, the topic should be one that is relevant, from the point of view of researchers in your field of study, and that is appealing to you (the writer). In addition, you should have at least some background knowledge on it and/or a good bibliography for starters. Don´t forget to narrow your topic down, that is, choose something that can be developed in a certain number of pages (between 70 and 200).

I have definitely found it difficult to identify which topic would be best to focus my research. While I've tried several topics, each was discounted as it was not a topic with a significant amount of reference material. Is there a way to study what you want to study even if there's not much by way of reference material?
