Congrats on your Bonus!
I got mine in December and have comfortably blown it all on Christmas presents, birthday presents, DVDs and going out to lekker places.

Things can be pretty expensive, like movies on a weekend which go fo as much as R42 per person. Then you must still buy popcorn and slush puppies which suck you dry like a leech.
Rather go watch a movie on half-price Tuesdays and smuggle in your own drinks lol

Yeah, R2000 doesnt go far. Next time you'll have to stick to the Spur burger and forget the Lazy Aged Steak.
That IS expensive and (to some other answerers) there are many countries in the world where you can eat out at a good steakhouse for much less.
Thanks for the update, tho. Will have to save like crazy for my next holiday to SA.

Congrats on your Bonus - None paid to most working people in England.

And yes SA has got expensive to live in - its to do with the value of the Rand outside of SA. All those movies you are watching have to be bought with the Rand and its worth less and less these days so your prices will go up, same with anything else that has to come from outside the country.

Its going to get worse, I am afraid, enjoy it while you can

Congrats for the bonus! :-)

Trust me, we should not complain about prices here in South Africa as they are 10 times worse overseas in places such as America, England, Etc! They may get their electronics cheaper than us, but other than that the cost of living in South Africa is so much cheaper that you wouldn't even believe! Trust me! But yea, money does feel worth way less than it used to though! It's crazy! I remember when I was so happy to have 50 bucks! Now it's like nothing! It's sad!

Money these days is worth nothing so dont stress about it there is alot thing that you can do which isnt that expensive, like go camping with your bf or go to the beach(if you live near it) or enjoy they day besides the pool etc.
You just need to think out side the box

Enjoy your bonus but let me say that answer from Motti Shish is utter drivel. The cost of living in the UK,housing apart, is cheaper than South Africa. Motti Shish completely ignores what you have to pay for education, medical.amenities, transport etc which has to be factored into the equation. Sure a coke or a cup of coffee is more expensive here but generally we earn more than you. The cost of cars, electrical appliances, clothing(which is of far better quality),furniture and other household goods is cheaper here. Food is almost at par dependant upon your wildly fluctuating exchange rate.Sorry had to get that out but enjoy it while you can.

Sorry no, Alf Garnett...actually Motti Shish is telling the truth! Yeah, some things may be cheaper, but other things are too damn expensive!

Wow, I hope you enjoyed your bonus!!=)
