the mind is almost always linked directly to the brain, but they are almost two seperate beings entirely.

for example: you can have problems with your mind, without there being any problems with your brain (and vice versa).
Again, when someone dies, we assume that their mind continues to live (as it cannot simply vanish from existance), but we know with scientific proof that the brain is dead.

There is a theory that parts of your mind are connected to other organs, such as the heart; people who have had heart transplants often feel differently about situations that they felt strongly about in the past. Spouses or partners also often notice a difference in their partner's personality after a heart transplant (or other major organ).

however, talking about the mind will almost always be linked to talking about the brain; as what happens in the brain often alters the mind.

Brain is a physical chunk where lot, but not all, of our thoughts are generated whereas mind is an abstract concept of origin of thought. Nowadays scientists are talking about "thinking cells". So apparently every cell can do its own thinking... That's one aspect of the answer.

The other thing is when we talk about mind, it seems like we are being more intuitive and when we talk about brain, we are talking about being logical. So to be intuitive, we don't need a great deal of logic, do we? and vice versa....

If it's for my humble opinion, a very scientifical one, it's is not possible to separate mind and brain.

I suggest you read the following:

It gives you a nice taste what you are asking about. The problem of mind and self-awareness is BIG, it's actually no problem. But to think about why we think ... human kind did since ever, and will much longer as well.

Try as well this book from Tor Noretrander: http://www.amazon.com/Sp%C3%BCre-die-Welt-Wissenschaft-Bewu%C3%9Ftseins/dp/3499602512/sr=8-2/qid=1170248311/ref=sr_1_2/102-6799400-8915368?ie=UTF8&s=books

It is not possible. All responses originated from our brain..so, we can´t separate the human mind as it is not a separate entity...human reasoning came from the cerebral cortex which is a part of the brain.

of course because how sure are we that the mind can really be found in the brain, why do you think that our mind is found in there? of course not.
