I had an upper respiratory infection two weeks ago and now I have a stuffy nose. I am a student teacher in the first grade and many of my kids are sick. I am not sure if I got this from them or if it is a continuation of what I had before.

My husband has been doing some research, and this might not make it go away fast it could help and help prevent future colds somewhat, on the benefits for the probiotic yogurts. He has found that the Stonyfield brand has the most probiotics/sugars and other healthy stuff. Plus it tastes good. He swears it has helped him and my oldest daughter (almost 4) who is prone to the chest and nasal colds. It is worth a try. You can find it in the organic section. the Banilla flavor is quite good! Yes these colds can last forever it will seem. Yes it is worse becuase of the season. Listen to the other suggestions about watching the ears and making sure it does not develop into something worse. Do not be afraid to go to the doctor every other day if you want.

The ocean nasal spray is great! I'd had sinus congestion for months and then used that stuff once and it worked a treat. While it is not pleasant squirting salty water up your nose it really does the trick. Taking decongestant pills and chemical sprays just makes it worse long term and has horrid side effects....a good tidal wave up the nose will sort it out quickly! Hope you feel better soon!

Hi, It depends on the sort of congestion..... If it is clear or creamy coloured mucus use a saline nasal spray to clear out the muck. If however the congestion is yellow or green this means it is infected and you will probably need to visit the doctor for treatment. If you have associated pain take a small dose pain killer such as paracetamol and drink plenty of fluids - especially if your nose is dripping alot. Hope you get better soon.

Are you sleeping with a humidifier in the room? I have got one that holds about a gallon of water. Since I started using it, and cleaning it VERY well once a week, I have seen a huge difference. If your congestion is from a recent cold, try using Vicks Rub on your chest. I know it stinks and makes you smell like an old person, but it really does help.

You can use over the counter sinus relief tablets, and liquids. Saline solution type nose sprays will work and won't be addictive, but my favorite is a hot steamy shower. It not only relieves the headaches, congestion but also relieves the muscle soreness that sometimes comes with the other ailments.

Something that I know works is Tylenol Sinus and Congestion Night Time. I used this a couple of weeks ago and it really works but you have to give it two days to get into your system. Make sure you get the Night Time!

Ocean nasal spray is good because it doesn't have the rebound effect that Afrin does causing you to be more stuffy than you were to begin with. Also, a cool mist vaporizer is good.

You may have a sinus infection if it continues to go on. If you have sinus headaches too you may need antibiotic to get rid of it.

Probably you have deviated nasal septum. Nasal decongestant drop will help you, but you must see a ENT Surgeon.
