I've just finished "A child called it" "The Lost boy" and "A man Named Dave"....I have never cried reading a book before...has anyone read these books?

Yes I read these books, The story is tragic, It's hard to believe someone can survive that, You should read Street Kid by Judy Westwater, It is a great book I've just finished it

I read 'a child called it' and I only just managed to finish it, havent read any of his other ones because I found it so upsetting, but I agree hes a very strong man and an inspiration xx

I haven't read either of them, but I know a lot of people who have. Everybody I know who's read it loves it. It has some really bad/gross things in it though and it's really sad is what I've heard about it.

I read the first two and think he had a tragic life, as a writer however he has little if not no talent. Secondly, making money out of his tragedy cheapens the fate he suffered. Thirdly he never manages to explain his feelings or even attempts to assume his mothers motivations leaving his book feeling like a diary rather than a serious piece of literature. Try reading "The Wasp Factory" if you want to read a talented writer describe abuse.

yes, I've read them all, they are amazing, Dave is inspirational. I cried all the way through!

My ex wife used to read them avidly, and so I read them out of curiosity. They are very harrowing, I must admit.

i read those books years ago and they are very sad i think he brought another one out, it makes you wander how people can be so cruel
