As a female tourist, is it ok to wear shorts in India? Or is it frowned upon?

Women in India generally don't wear shorts.

As a female tourist, you don't want to wear shorts either. You WILL be hassled. Three quarter pants/capris are acceptable, though. You also want to avoid sleeveless shirts and low necklines.

Girls upto a certain age do in places(dangerous though). Women don't. Sportswomen do while participating. Nowadays 3/4's are being worn by women going out.
