1-Yes - sign up for and use the slot club card at any casino where you are going to play
2-No - You don't have to play a lot of money to receive comps. Sometimes just signing up will lead to some interesting offers.
3-Play where you're appreciated - playing $10 a hand blackjack for four hours at a five star hotel isn't going to get you the time of day. At some of the off strip 2 & 3 star hotels you might be surprised at what you receive in the way of comps/promotion & marketing offers.
4-If you're a "low" roller - When you're starting out - put together a short list of hotels that interest you - give them some play - somewhere in the 2-3K range - In a few months you will find out if and how much they appreciated your play - As an example, on my last trip I put in some play at one of the new off strip casinos. I would call this place, at least 3.5 stars, I played 2.5K through a video poker machine. Two weeks ago I received a marketing offer to stay up to 5 nights for $19 per night Sunday through Thursday & or $39 Friday & Saturday. That leads me to believe that if I play at my normal level of 5-6K that the offer would have been comp nights and maybe meals.
5-know what to play - how to play - where to play - & how to manage your bankroll. Never chase comps>play within yourself.
6-you "generally" will get better offers from a hotel once you have established a pattern of play/loyalty. But, you never marry a casino, you only date them.
7-when asking for a comp(meal) put it in a way that allows them to do you a favor. As in "I have been playing for a while, I'm getting a little hungry, I thought I would take a break and get a bite to eat, have I played enough to earn a buffet/coffee shop or whatever you were interested in" The slot host or at the slot club booth, they will take a look at your play, and let you know.

You have to gamble a lot to get comped. Your gambling can be any form, from slots to tables to sports book. The first step is join the players clubs. Join at the hotel you stay in and all of the others that you go to as several hotels use the same card so you can add up points faster if you play in different hotels. If you play slots, put your card in the machine for every play. If you play table, give your card to the dealer and ask him/her to give it to the pit boss.
If you are playing tables and want to get comps they will do what they call "rating": which means they will watch how much you play. If you want big comps you have to gamble big for a significant period of time. For example, betting $15 to $25 a hand at blackjack for a couple hours at a time, or same on the crap tables. You can also get smaller comps, like a meal or a free room night, by gambling a smaller amount for a long period, like if you play the quater machines for 4 or 5 hours straight a day. I am not a big time gambler but I have gotten small comps this way, just playing mostly quater machines.

If you play at $100 level for many hours you will get attention. But this is the dilemma. At the best hotels $100 level is Ok. At the crummy hotels $100 is a God. So, it depends on what you are looking for. If you want lots of stuff that is of little value, go the the crummy hotels. If you want a little of what is really valuable, play at the better hotels. But there are no really good hotels that will roll over and bark because you are a $100 player. For instance, would you rather be comped one night in a hotel where the rooms are $200 per night or three nights in a hotel where the rooms are $35 per night? Would you rather be comped at one of the best buffets in Vegas or comped at one of the worst? The reality is they take care of very regular players more than one time high rollers. Of course if you are a regular player and a high roller, the sky is the limit for what they will comp. If you play quarter slots for several hours a day and show up at casinos several times a year they will comp you quite a bit. That is why it is more important to select a casino where you will play regularly or a casino chain. It does not always have to be the same casino as long as you frequent any of the casinos in a group it could be anywhere in the world. For instance MGM/Mirage owns Casinos in: Biloxi, MS Tunica, MS Atlantic City, NJ Elgin, IL Detroit, MI Macau as well as 9 in Las Vegas, 2 in Reno and 1 in Jean NV. Play in any of these casinos counts. *

The best way to get comped is sign up for a player's card. The quickest way to get points is to play slots. Some places run specials for new members (ie: free room on next visit; free buffet; show tickets). I have found that getting cards that are universal (ie: you can use them at other casinos across the US). One of the better clubs are Harrah's Total Rewards. The cards can be used at all the Harrah's properties (Bally's, Paris, Showboat, Caesars, etc.). In Atlantic City, the best program is The Borgata. Points earned at the Borgata can be cashed in for "vacation checks" that can be used in Las Vegas at MGM and sometimes Boyd properties. But keep in mind, when casinos start comping you, they expect you to maintain a certain level of play. Good luck.

Wherever you're staying, as soon as you check in, sign up for the players' club. You'll get a plastic card - use this every time you play. (There's a slot for it on any machine in the casino, and some tables, if not at the table, give it to the dealer who will have the pit boss to rate your play.)
Charge your meals and stuff to your room.
At the end of your stay, speak to one of the casino hosts and ask them to rate your play. They will then determine what you've played and how much you've earned in comps. They will then re-evaluate your bill and take off whatever applies.

I always loved the "free" stuff. When you dump $15,000 in their machines and they give you a free room and comp your meals.
Get rated. meaning if you play heavy, usually over 2000 coins a day, they will assign a host to you and start to get you to spend more so they can give you more free stuff.
I love how this works!!

Make sure you apply for your players card. To earn alot of points without spending alot of money. Show your card at a table and cash in a couple hundred dollars for chips. Play a hand or two. At the end of the day or when you need it, go to the cashiers window and cash in your chips. They don't know how much you played only that you got the chips. It really works. I know it's not the most honorable way but for us poor people that don't have hundreds to gamble every day it helps get us some free stuff.

Get the players club card everywhere you go and spend a lot of money. Drinks are always free if you are playing at the slots or at tables but don't sit at the bar with video poker they charge for drinks there.

get a players card....use it in the machines and the tables games.....when you use it in the pit.....maintain a $25.00 avg. bet in blackjack and you can ususally get a meal for 2......its your average bet and how long you play for that gets you the comps.... if you go and blow $10,000 in one hand of blackjack...don't expect much for that one hand....you'll be lucky just to get a drink from the cocktail waitress....remember avg. bet and how long you have played for......
