Is anyone here having or had at some point in time or at least know about the job seeker's allowance? If you are entitled to it, does that give you the right to work?

What document must you produce to an employer showing that you are entitled to work in England? Should it be a document from the Home Office or Department of Work and Permit (DWP) or from both?

By agreeing to pay you JSA (Job seekers' allowance), has DWP checked with the Home Office and found out that you are entitled to JSA and have the right to work?

I claimed between May and August 2005 and was told the following:-

To claim Job Seekers Allowance you MUST be willing to work, but while claiming you are NOT allowed to do any paid work. You can ONLY claim for 6 months.

You have got to have a BRITISH Birth Certificate AND a National Insurance Number. You have also got to hand over the P45 your last employer gave you.

You must be eligible to work in the UK in order to claim Job Seekers Allowance.

Usually a UK passport, National Insurance Number or a Work Permit are necessary show you can work in the UK.
