With that printer you printer has no idea whether or not you have installed a new cartridge. The cartridge is a small grey ink tank with no electronics what soever that clips into a larger print head. I am assuming you are wanting to clean the electronics on the print head, don't, anytime you introduce a liquid to an electronic component you run the risk of shorting it out. The can be accomplished even by way of the static you naturally have built up. The print head costs about $80 to replace.

Go through your Canon Toolbox, there is a utility that allows you to run through the new cartridge installation procedure, this should align and install the new cartridge

If you are using the black only BC-20 it may not be registering due to an electronic error, or malfunction, as opposed to messing around with the cartridge attempt to exchange it if the installation procedure fails to rectify the problem

Alcohol is great for that use :)
If it still does not read the ink cartridge correctly, you may have bought a cartridge for a similar printer which will cause problems (just cause it fit doesnt mean it belongs). There is the possibility that it is a defective cartridge.

They do this for an excellent reason particularly. They use each and all the colors even to print basically black. there's a type of portray and that i won't be able to think of of it appropriate now, yet particularly, in case you combine a team of particularly of alternative colorations, you get yet another coloration with out even utilising it. that is largely the comparable element. with out the different colorations, your black might final approximately 80 5 pages. yet with all colorations, its lasts probable approximately 250. My advice is flow with a printer that doesn't cost lots to interchange ink. they are obtainable, HP is beginning as much as return out with low-cost printers that use low-cost ink. J4680 or something like that and doubtless like a 5610 are large! look for the HPs with the 74xl and the 75xl. they are intense capacities that get three times the prints for no longer fairly double the cost. they are large!

Make sure that the cartridge is seated properly. Some of them sort of 'snap' into place. On my Canon Pixma 150, I have to slide the cartridge into place, and then lift it slightly so that it snaps in place. If your cartridge is new, then it doesn't require any cleaning. Try Canon's tech support.
