Laganas is one of my fave holiday destinations! Be warned it is a 18-30's clubbing area however i went with my boyfriend 3 yrs running but we are into our ppubs and clubs. There are restuarants and things to do but the main strip will become busy and drunken at night, so avoid it and do evening excursions or stay at the hotel for entertainment if this is not your thing! However my fave thing is the beach, they are lovely and they have a nearly extinct type of large turtle which means the beach is out of bounds at night as they lay their eggs and are a protected species. Anyway in the day on the beach you can swin out and swim with these large turtles, they are really friendly and it is an amazing/weird feeling swimming alongside these creatures. I absolutely love laganas its somewhere you have to go, if not for the partying but for the amazing (think they are called loggerhead) turtles! The amount of day excursions is really good too, make sure you go see the ship wreck which is stranded in an alcove where the water is freezing all day long. The waters are so clear at 200 yeards up you can see to the bottom! Sorry i can go on for ever so I will stop!

Lagana is the busiest part of zakythos. I went to kalamaki in september which is just down the road and it was lovely. I only wanted a nice beach by day and a good meal on a night and this is what i got. We went into zakythos town for one of the days and had to go through laganas on way back and i was sooo glad that we hadn't stayed there . All you could see was pub after pub after pub! The beach looked nice but i doubt it would be quiet like in kalamaki. If you want to get away from it there are buses all day and quite late at night too so you could go to kalamaki during the day or night time for a quiet meal. I think laganas would be really noisy on a night with loads of lager louts!!!!! If you want a quiet holiday i dont think its a place to go!

Laganas is full of pubs & clubs, I go to Kalamaki every year that is a quiet town just down the road!! when we want a serious night out, and literally party all night we head to Laganas!!

If you are referring to Zakinthos (Zante) Laganas you have picked the wrong location to stay in that island. Laganas is the party area of the island where young and single tourists go to hook up with other singles, get drunk and cause problems.
Dont get me wrong the location in and of itself is beautiful but not for a quiet stay. There are other areas you can visit during your stay on the island that will provide you the relaxed, laid back vacation you are looking for.

Hi, went there last year...I wouldn't exactly call it quiet!! Its mainly an club 18-30 resort thats aimed at people who want to drink themselve's sober!
There is one main street that is just bars and clubs (+ a few cafes) which is manic after 9pm until 6ish in the morning. There isn't much to do in the day-nothing starts until 10ish, unless you want to sunbathe on the beach (there are no water sports like jetski's allowed because of the turtles) or unless you hire a car and venture further afield.
