To live beyond the age of 60 is a gift. You are in a state of good health despite the degenerative process happening in your body. You are enjoying the fruits of your labor. You are being loved and cared for.

You could live to be 100 years old & never come close to seeing almost everything! Even if you could afford to travel all over the world 100 times! There's always more to see/do/be/learn/enjoy. Most people don't want to die at any age. Death can be scary. Besides, the afterlife (Heaven) is eternal. No sense rushing that. This mortal life is so fragile & temporary that we have to cherish & enjoy it as long as we can. After retirement is the time that most people get to relax & enjoy themselves since they're done with work. They work their whole lives to save money so that in their retirement they can finally relax & not have to work. Maybe they can travel, take part in hobbies, do things they've always wanted to but never had time to. Why would they want to miss out on that? There is life after 60! There is life after 80! If you keep your mind & body active & keep your youthful enthusiasm then you never "grow old" you can stay young! The important thing is to live life to the fullest, whatever your age.

Hello friend, I totally get this question because I too am hitting a mile-stone (yikes!) Age...50!!!! and even though I am a decade behind I understand the feelings totally! At this point in life it is not about you! Sorry, it's not! It is about what you can contribute to the rest of the world before our rapidly approaching check-out date. Honey we still have a lot to offer this crazy world. We have experience that can change others lives. We should now focus on giving! To the children, to the illiterate, to the poor, to the oppressed, to the grieving... you name it We are needed!!!! Hey... we are baby bloomers remember, we grew up with hope and the pursue of peace ....We should not go down without
emptying out all of our talents and resources. And who knows, when we die...God may ask us why is there still talent unspent inside of you?

Not anyone has "seen almost everything." Your question implies that is the purpose for living. We old folks have desires, too. Dying is not on our list of things we hope to accomplish today.

I ask myself the same thing. Although something tells me, when I get that age I won't be very willing to die. I think unless you have tendencies to depression or severely ill, one just continues to have the same approach on life, that is, wanting to wake up breathing the next morning.

Arnie, my Grandfather was playing softball when he was 85 years old. He lived to be 104 and was very active until he was about 98. So don't cut yourself short on the life business you never know.

On the first day, God created the dog and said:

"Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years."

The dog said: "That's a long time to be barking. How about only
ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?"

So God agreed.

On the second day, God created the monkey and said: "Entertain
people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a
twenty-year life span."

The monkey said: "Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the dog did?"

And God agreed.

On the third day, God created the cow and said: "! You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves, and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years."

The cow said: "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for
sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?"

And God agreed again.

On the fourth day, God created man and said: "Eat, sleep, play,
marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years."

But man said: "Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?"

"Okay," said God, "You asked for it."

So that is why the first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy
ourselves. For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.

Because if I turn out anything like my family I will still be doing marathons and touring the world til I'm 80. (Plus you'll have retirement money...hehe)

You never get to see "almost everything" however old you live to be. Plus, you want to be around your children and grandchildren for as long as possible.

How old are you? This sounds like something a kid would write after being forced to give Grandma a kiss!
