Is it necessary to be a techy to be a business analyst??

I want to be a business analyst but am not a software pro... I am into new product development but I conceptualise and work closely with the tech team... Is it necessary for a business analyst to be a techy? If not, then what kind of organisations can I approach??

Really appreciate some help...
