not in rainy season.. but around the time it rains.. because the drops of rain act as tiny prisms and break up the white light of sun into its component colors.
PS: you can see a rainbowonly when sun is blow 30degrees on the horizon.
Thanks

For some reason, I don't remember rainy seasons in Saipan. I know that it rained and that it was wet and that I used to go outside and play in the drops, but I don't remember the dreariness. Maybe that's because kids don't see it that way - yesterday, despite west wind warnings and water throwing huge boulders up on the road and the closure of the small boat marina, the kids were all outside. Laughing and playing in the water. I was huddled in the Youth Center, freezing in my soaked jeans, lost in concentration over a 3D puzzle while the Backstreet Boys harmonized in the background. Another rockin' Saturday for yours truly.
Before I moved here, I asked dh what we would do if it rained and he said, "Just get wet, I guess."
But I really had no idea.
Most days I employ a yellow rain jacket AND an umbrella, but if it's windy? Forget it. Mary Poppins won't have nothing on you, 'cuz you'll go flying. At the very least tumbling off your bike, and the asphalt? Not such a good cushion.
When I first got here, I was anal, about the rag to wipe the seat. Can't have a wet ***. Now? I just hop on, because the last 3 out of 5 days of work, I have been soaked. From the end of my raincoat down. The rain hits the plastic and goes screaming down my front into the thick absorbent fabric of my clothing. It's fun, the absorbency.
Don't even ask me about the hood.
I need to cut some eye holes in that thing. If you hold it up with one hand, the rain goes down your sleeve and soaks the front of your shirt. If you don't hold it at all you run the risk of crashing because you're too busy chanelling that hatted kid on Fat Albert, and if you don't wear it, well then, what's the point of having a big yellow hood, anyway?

The rainbow works on the principal of steering of light . After rains sunlight falls on the water drops present in the sky. When the sun falls on this light ,it gets scattered into seven colours & hence rainbow is formed.

water is a dispersive medium i.e. light of different colours travel at different speed in water. hence when the light of sun passes through the water the different colours split and look like a band, that is what we call as a rainbow.
the rainbow can be seen only when the sun is about to rise or set; and of course when it is raining; and when we have a background, like a cloud, on which the light will fall to form the spectacular image, the rain-bow.

the splitting up of white light into 7 colours is called dispersion and manually it is achieved by the use of a prism. in this case, the rain drops in the atmosphere act as prisms and when there are many raindrops, all the refracted light gives rise to a biig huuge beautiful enchanting colourful pretty cute sweet marvellous rainbow

Because the rain is the "Prism" in the sky when the Sun shines. A "Prism" reflects with the light, giving it a multitude of colors, against another reflection.
