Am I just getting old?,
I would like to meet new people who do not procrastinate, who are optimistic and are always interested in new opportunities and adventures.
I asked a friend who’s company I enjoy to come on a holiday with me but because it was winter they declined, their answer being I do not like the cold. I do not want to have to deal with this negative attitude to life.... I am being selfish or am I getting old.

You would give up a friend on the basis of them not wanting to come on holiday in winter?? Thats not them being negative thats them having a choice. I would not give up on your friends too quickly because if you cant find others that meet your requirements what will you do? I have known my best friend for 20 ys and yes we dont always have the same ideas or like the same things but at the end of the day when it come to me needing a best friend for the important things...not just her coming on holiday with me..she is always there for me.

Are you trying to set up a cult?
Who would want you as a friend, 'getting rid of' friends because they have a different outlook to you. These are people you are talking about with hopes fears and feelings, not inanimate objects to be used then dropped when you get bored.
If you only ever mix with people who hold the same outlook as you, how are your opinions ever going to be challenged? How will you know if you are wrong?
Difference is to be embraced, if everyone was the same the world would be incredibly boring place. I have friends who I disagree with fundamentally about many things, and we can argue about stuff, but I do not demand that my friends have the same outlook as me. That would be very controlling, and I am sure they would not want me as a friend if I demanded that they changed just to suit my latest fancy.
Find yourself new friends that share your outlook, but don't drop old friends, they will feel used, and rightly so.

Friends are for life and not just for Christmas! I have many friends including ones that i had in primary school (1st grade). You find as you get older that there are different friends that you contact for differrent reasons, you know the one that you can have the intelletual conversation with won't always be the one that you contact when you split from a parnter, or the one that will tell you honestly, does my bum look big in this. Never feel that you've outgrown your friends. As a person is far riher the more friends that he has. Just add more new ones

You're not being selfish. Some people are just wrapped up in their own world and as for this don't really care about the bigger things in life. I think you should find new friends and enjoy it while you can bcos if they can't understand you or accept you then you can't really call them friends. Especially if they don't find it hard to say no to you, you should be able to do the same. Its not being selfish, sometimes you just have to move on and do things for yourself...doesn't mean you don't care.

Strikes me you have a strange outlook. I have friends that I like. I like a lot of people.
Do you not think that you would be bored to be surrounded by people who think the same way as you?
How would you know?
What would you talk about?
Why would someone want to friends with a person who expects to be agreed with all the time??
You are not old, just lonely.

i am thinking what kind of friend are you if you want to kick your friend to the kirb just because she prefers hot holidays
yes i think you are a lot selfish in that score but for wanting to go on hholiday with friends of like mind is not
good friends are few and far betwwen and if you treat all your fiends in this way then you wont have any well not any that matter
friendship is about being there for each other in all sorts of ways but because they dont want that type of holiday does that mean they are not a friend i dont think so
i have some amazing friends but i would not go on there choice of holiday and they would not most likely go on mine but gues what they are wonderful friends and i would not change them for the world
so what is friendship to you getting you own way or compramise and understanding

I wouldnt want to do that myself, its more interesting having friends with different outlooks on life.

Its a bit selfish to get rid of friends just because rhey dont fall in with all the things you want to do,and quite childish.

Not every one likes the same things. You are getting old because that is a fact of life but you surely don't want all your friends to be like you and forever in agreement. That would be dull.

Age is variable that we all have to deal with in our lives. After reading this you along with every other person alive on this earth will have aged 1 minute therefore EVERYTHING we do can be argued that its responsible for us getting older.

Your personal preferences comes from knowledge gained from experience in your life. Behaviour is learned and usually from something thats occured in your past, but behaviour can also be unlearned.

In my opinion you're not getting older, you're maturing, and getting wiser ... as are we all
