Let me amend "Shoppingdiva"s" answer just a bit. As to the question about "was Brandy speeding". Reports state that she was traveling 65MPH (the legal speed limit) when she rear ended STOPPED traffic on the freeway.

She will be charged just like anyone else who caused an accident. The charges are the very least charge possible. She will probably plead guilty and pay a fine of less than $1000. She will not do any time. She did cause the accident. She was not drunk or eating or on the phone but she was a bad driver. There was nothing that caused her to hit the car, she just did not react to the slow traffic and was a bad driver.

The only reason she may not plead guilty and instead No Contest because she is being sued for $50 million by the womans husband and kids.

The California Highway Patrol recommended that Brandy be charged with misdemeanor (vehicular manslaughter). Its up to the state now to determine what she will actually be charge with. But she has been found at "fault". Possibility for following too closely . But it was already determined she was NOT speeding as she was doing 65 on a major california highway.

However, the family has already filed a wrongful dead lawsuit against her for $50 million dollars. I'm sure the other cars in the pile-up will file against her as well.
