My Toyota Corolla started having hard time to start pumping oil. I notice that every time I start engine it gets longer and longer for the oil pump to work untill it went dead totally. We tried to trace all possible causes but could not make it work again.

Could it be because oil is oozing out of the pump and it gets dry which is the reason for hadr sucktion? Could it also be the reason why it wont work because we installed it unlubricated again? What would expertyou suggest.

Thank you

Change filter, checked and cleaned sump screen, check sucktion tube, cleaned surface of engine with sand paper, put very thin layer of cilicon, but did not prime.

What is the reason behind its not building preasure or delay in pumping right away? is it not because oil leakes back to the pan?

when you remove an oil pump from the engine you must pack it full with vasaline when you reinstall it to prime it to pick up the oil from the pan, it can not leak either, if it is leaking it is losing the prime and will burn out if left this way

As per information your new oil filter didn't even get wet with oil. It means not even a single drop of oil passed through it. Thus no oil was pump out by your oil pump. I would definitely say that your action of not priming the pump have great effect on the oil pump. First it would not create enough pressure to bring the oil up. Second if oil is escaping from the pump, therefore it is improperly sealed thats why no pressure will built up to bring the oil up. Suction and pressure is minimal thus oil circulation is impossible.
