They get to spend more one on one time with individual students, when the teacher can't. Most teachers, including myself, have an average of 30 students. Some have more. This hardly leaves any time for individual expression, in fact, it stifles it. Teachers are on heavy schedules as it is, and now, there's talk of the teachers being let go if the students don't progress in those already overcrowded classrooms. While many teachers would love to spend more time with the individual student, so that the students CAN express themselves, ART and MUSIC expression programs are being cut.So an assistant does so much more than just take the load off of a teacher, an assistant helps more children discover their otherwise hidden talents.
