NO... but if you drink a chamomile tea with milk and honey before bed it will calm you enough to rest. Also try a pillow that is stuffed with lavender and chamomile as a soothing effect. If worse comes to worse you could try Valerian Root tablets but they take a while to get into your system.

Sleeping pills will make you groggy ---the best thing to reduce mental stress is physical work outs....do something physical...the best thing would be a good hour long yoga work out in the evenings to help you 'let go' of the stuff going on during the day. I have the same problem periodically and yoga has really helped. When you are really need an over the counter remedy, try Unisom (in the blue gel capsules, the pills don't seem to work as well) ---just make sure you can have 12 hours of rest when you take them, otherwise you are just miserable the whole next day. Good luck!

Try something over the counter first. Typically doctors recommend Benadryl and will have you try that and stress reduction techniques. Any doctor who rushes to write you a prescription is not helping you or your problems.
Actual sleeping pills like Ambien or Lunesta require a prescription and are meant for short-term use. Although many claim not to have addictive properties it doesn't necessarily mean it wont be an issue for you.
Sometimes Dramamine, an anti-motion sickness pill sold over the counter, can also help with temporary insomnia. Stress reduction and temporary use of either Benadryl or Dramamine would be best because they have fewer and less serious side-affects.
Long-term use of Benadryl (over a month) has been known to give some people nightmares and with temporary use can cause dehydration.

I use Melatonin. It's a natural hormone produced by the pineal gland, and it can be used as a preventative for insomnia. If you take a pill an hour before you go to bed if will put you to sleep naturally and they work really well. I'm not sure where you can get it because I got it overseas, but I'm sure if you enquire at a chemist they will know.

i reccomend you dont take them.i reccomend you change your job.trust me mate i know.it doesn't matter how much your being paid,it's not worth it.you can't buy happines.and more importantly you cant buy back your health, your sanity or time.do yourself a favuor and find another job.and dont let anyone tell you just take a sleeper every now and then it wont hurt you.IT WILL.if your having severe sleeping difficulties there will come a time when you will do anything to get a nights sleep, and if you got a good nights sleep on a sleeper, you'll do it again and again and again.............................and then it turns into a very bad, very hard to stop habit.and it only makes your sleep problems worse.if you dont want to change jobs(you should)have a holiday.no phones,no kids,no pets,no worries.when you see how good it feels you'll probably want to quit?i'm not a dr,i'm telling you this from experience.dont wait to have a nervous breakdown before you change jobs.

See a doctor and talk to him or her have your bp checked also about starting a course of anti depressants "Endept" are great take one a hour before going to bed at night they help you sleep and also they don't make you loose your sex drive as most the suggested sleeping pills will take it away. Are you one of your companys main assits ? If your expected to do more work or if extra work is pushed onto you . Ask your boss straight out if your going to be paid more to do the extra work he laid on you ! Then ask what incentive is he going to offer you by taking on this extra work causing sleepless nights and the stress you are currently under. People don't know thing's unless you tell them or ask. for them Don't wimp out.

Don't bring your work problems at home. As soon as you leave the office going home, focus on what you would like or love to do.
As for me, Wednesday and Thursdays are my weekend.
The best sleeping remedy would be to take some NyQuil or something with antihistamine in it. They both make you drowsy.
It's more effective than a sleeping pill.

This worked for me - and that i've got continual insomnia. not sleep late each and every night for each week - say 11pm or 12pm. no be counted what, circulate to be late. Set your alarm for 6 or 7am. Your physique quickly gets drained and learns to circulate to sleep as quickly as you circulate to mattress. over the years deliver your bedtime lower back to assert 10pm. do no longer take day time naps and get thousands of workout - yet no longer good until eventually now you circulate to mattress. do no longer consume a huge meal until eventually now you circulate to mattress. I even have had sturdy success with Bach sleep rememdy, this is non-sedating. i admire having a heavy conceal too, we positioned our airconditioner on this is a waste of potential yet facilitates me sleep.

You need to take a class on how to deal with stress at work. That's what's keeping you awake. Sleeping pills aren't the answer. Understanding how to deal with stress originating at work is the answer.

Advil PM works well as an occasional sleep aid. If that doesn't do enough for you, a doctor can prescribe something else.
