My PC is infested with a virus, and I want to restore it back to normal. Actually, I have XP Pro that I want to install anyways, but the disk is not working for some reason. I know the CD works, cause I put it in the comp before I had the viruses, and the contents of the CD were displayed. So, I'm assuming it's a virus issue. Hopefully after I restore the system back to its factory settings, I can then try to install it once again. so I guess my question is, how exactly do I use the disk restore (15 CD's). Since my comp still boots just fine, and works overall, do I need the CDs or can I do it from the Restore Partition? And how?

It's possible that your recovery partition is infected as well. You can try that, if you want, since it's a lot faster than using your CDs.

If you would rather use your CDs, put the first CD in your computer and restart it. It should load from the CD right away. If you get to your login screen or your desktop, it didn't work. At which point, you'll have to restart again and load the boot menu. On some computers, this is F10, on others its F8. Then you'll want to boot from your CD drive.

If you're still not able to boot from your CD drive, I'd suggest getting a techie of some kind to do it. It's straight-forward enough for us to do. Just time-consuming.
