Trig in terms of calculating lengths and angles is essential to engineering and construction (mechanical and civil) and navigation. I think some chemists might use it in analysing molecular structures too. Careers include those branches of engineering, building, carpentry, operating/directing sea- and air-craft, and surveying. Hobbies include model construction, sailing, orienteering, and hiking.

Trig functions (sine, cosine, etc) turn out to be useful in describing all sorts of phenomena, from simple harmonic motion (e.g. velocity of a piston in an engine or of a sewing machine needle) to electronic signals, and they are indispensable when you need to model anything cyclical. So electrical and mechanical engineers and physicists use them, as well as forecasters and modellers (who could be tackling anything from customer behaviour to the weather), probably metallurgists and many chemists, and some stock market traders. Only very technical hobbyists would have to touch them, usually in electronics.

almost every career one pursues involves math, although practically, math has different branches and applications to each type of career. Find out which of math you're good at and follow from that lead on.
