Is there an album which you would recommend to us all.

My 'Gem' is 'Strong Persuader' by the wonderful Robert Cray. This sounds as good today as it did way back in 1986 and his vocals and guitar playing are second to none.

If you have not heard it, you will (hopefully) have heard of it, Jeff Wayne`s `WAR OF THE WORLDS`, they used to say... put it on, turn out the lights, and enjoy it.

Its true, it is a CLASSIC album, full of great things and great voices, it will cost you nothing to borrow it, but you will get a lot out of it, you have asked, its no good getting reccomendations and not acting on them, if you had not listened to reccomendations before, you would not have favourites now.

I`ll listen to strong persuader....... enjoy.

SPIRIT OF 76 by Spirit, a double LP. The singer/guitarist, the late Randy California, subtitled it 'a bicentenial memorial album'. As well as his amazing guitar playing, some original tunes and plenty of weirdness, it has some amazing cover versions (eg Hey Joe, Happy and Like a Rolling Stone)
An underknown classic (like most of the band's output!)

New Model Army - Thunder & Consolation. Been listening to that for nearly 20 years, still sounds as good today. Reminds me what life was like growing up in the last quarter of the 20th century.

Always amazed me that NMA never made it big commercially as they wrote some incredible music. Totally unnapreciated in their own lifetimes.

Oh yes, definetely.

The one and only Keith Jarrett doing the session of a lifetime on 'The Köln Concert'.

Finest piano jazz (in the broader meaning), unparalleled until today.

Kings of Leon - Youth & Young Manhood. Anyone I've lent this too loved it even though they never heard of KoL before. Mental but magic.
