It depends on where is your “abroad”? In Europe, USA, Canada and in Australia, proficiency in English would be a great advantage; here in some area/country French, German, Spanish and Italian would be okay. In Middle East, knowing Arabic is more than okay. And knowing Chinese working in china like fish is in the water.
Yes Hawaiian said very correctly, some nature of job does not bother the language architectural beauty.
