I am thinking of buying a phione with the 3 service. What's your experience of it? Is coverage any good? I'll be travelling abroad so will it work in the US and Europe?

THE coverage is good, as it "piggy-backs" on the O2 network.
But forget it, as my wife was with them and didn't like them much.

Coverage is ok as mentioned before it uses some o2 cell sites and o2 is pretty much 99% coverage in UK.

Europe should be ok but USA hasnt seemed to work for those that tried.

Billing would be the biggest problem you have with 3, mistakes general sharp practice....eg i left them when they tried to upgrade me for another 18 months without my consent....they sent the phone to some other address i never heard of and then sent me an ipod shuffle?
Told them to fix up and sort it and if they wanted shuffle back they should send a paid for envelope which they didnt so that was that.

Overall coverage is good.

Just calls will cost you a shed load as no one tends to use 3 network.
