If you're using Internet Explorer, go to View->Text Size at the top of the screen and adjust it there.

On both Firefox and Internet Explorer:
Press the CTRL key and use the scroll wheel on your mouse to make the text bigger or smaller (up for bigger and down for smaller)
If you dont have a scroll wheel on your mouse you can use CTRL+ (the CTRL key and press the + key ) to make it bigger or CTRL - to make it smaller (CTRL key and the minus key) or CTRL and 0 (CTRL key and the number zero) to set back to normal.
Alternatively you can also use the menubar:
on Firefox its View, Text Size, then Increase/Decrease or Normal.
on Internet Explorer Its View, Text Size then Largest, Larger, Medium, Smaller or Smallest
Please Note: All the above methods will set the text size for all websites and not just google! (There is a preferences you can customise google home page futher - you need to sign in for this then the url for the personalised google home page is http://www.google.com/ig , but unfortunately there is no option within the google personalised page preferences to set the text size)
If you have a scroll wheel mouse then this is the easiest way to change it for google and back to normal size for other sites - I had a similar problem going to a particular site where the fonts where too large, the scroll mouse makes it easier to temporarily change the text size just for that site
Hope this helps

Note that if you change it in the ways mentioned you are in fact changing it for the entire browser. This means that not only will Google be increased, but so will everything else.
