You are so frackin right.
The writing and acting are superior. The show is so engrossing that I become part of the crew.
I enjoy many things about the show. Such as the polytheistic faith/ religion of the humans as juxtaposed against the Cylon's "manufactured? "religion and culture. I like the gritty desperation and steely resolve of of the Galactica's crew to survive. I like the low industrial tech of the show; it seems plausible.
I like the ambiguity of what point in time the Galctica saga may be occurring compared to where we currently are.
Battlestar Galactica is definitely on my Tivo with a season pass.

i love it....
at first i wished they had kept with the original plan for the new show.
I dont know if your aware of this, but its Richard Hatch (original Apollo) who is the main reason this show ever saw the light of day again.
In 1979 the original show lasted barely a season because it had a lot of problems. Lawsuits from George Lucas and some other things finally pushed it off tv.
in 1980 a attempt at a sequel was made but only lasted 6 episodes. This was mostly due i hear from lack of casting (only like 5 originals came back).
About 10 years ago, Richard Hatch got a brilliant idea.
He started working on a sequel..
Galactica 1980 (where they find earth) never happened.
Its 30 years later (about the right time) and the fleet is still in space and the Cylons are still around. Adohma is dead, and Apollo is now fleet commander. New technology would be arounda as well.
For over 10 years Hatch worked to make this happen, and i wish he had. In the end his work got him a remake of the original but much larger.
That is also the reason he's a charector in the new show (he plays the terrorist leader in the first season and then becomes a politician).
I hear they want to get some others back, and my first hope would be Dirk Bennedict the original Star buck.

I loved the original so very much.. I thought Apollo was the best looking man on film. And the Cylones... the steel ones are the only things that scare me! the red eye and voice.. so cool.
I did watch the first episoids and thought it was clever, but nah... not for me!

Apollo & Starbuck are too
the Cylons are pretty cool
I go get tired of Baltar and the blonde Cylon.
All in all the pace is good, the writing excellent, and the
effects are fantastic.

At first i couldn't stand it, but after a couple of nights sitting up with a sick 2 year old cleaning vomit off me, the sofa and the floor... it wasn't so bad......
Now i watch it whenever I can catch it - which isn't often unfortunately.
