Unless you won the lotto or maybe a millionaire those custom one of bikes will cost you a 6 digit figure so I won't discuss them. Big Dog (check out there web-site) motorcycles have the best value for the buck when it comes to production custom bikes with a S&S V-twin big incher motor. They have two models I like out of there line-up and they run close to $40,000. Boss Hoss is another production custom and they run about $40,000+ easy. They come with a V-8 Chev motor in both small block and big block all the way up to the 502! Check out there web-site for more information.

Tour bikes: Honda's Goldwing takes top prise here and run in the mid-$20 (up to about $28,000). Add about another $10 grand for Harley's top bike.
NOTE: Polaris Victory Motorcycle is coming out with a very unique tour bike late this 2007 season, it looks as though it come right out of some futuristic movie...2025. Check out there web-site for more details. I'd like to make it to the bike show this weekend and check it out in person.

Metric Crusiers: Kawasaki's Vulcan line has been the leader for some time in the 800cc class and up. In the 800 to 1100cc class be it from Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda they will run around $7,500 to $8,500. moving up the scale to the 1500cc + bikes cost $10,000 to $15,000 The $15 grand will get you one of those decked out Vulcan Classic 2000cc Crusiers.
Next to the Tour bikes the Crusiers would your choice for an all day comfortable ride.

Sport Bikes: aka, Crotch Rockets in the 600 & 750cc class should set you back around $7,000 to $8,800 and are considered the light wt. class. The next class is the middle weights, 900 & 1100cc and cost around $9,000 to $10,000 and last of all are the heavy weights...the kings of power & speed and I mean top speeds of well over 180mph! 1/4 mile times...mid 9sec. close to 150mph! The only two in this class is the Suzuki 1300cc and Kawasaki's 1400cc. Just a little historical on motorcycle technology. In 1980 the team of Vance &Hines with there Suzuki 1100 Pro Stock Drag Bike went mid-8sec. just over 150mph.
These sport bike are not for the long hall, all day ride, they are fine for around town, the country side and open Hwy. and last of all to and from work and thats about it. I know of on one in all my years of riding, who rode one of these crotch rockets across country. Not one person I have even read in a magazine would take a vaction/trip on one. (77)

I hope this may have been helpful in your search for Motorcycle information. Pick up some motorcycle magazines and read some of the test on the bikes of your interest. Good luck and ride safe.

Honda sets the standard for reliability. Their Gold Wing engines have been known to run for over 300,000 miles without major trouble.
The most expensive would be the one-of-a-kind custom motorcycles that you see being built on TV.

BEST?
Matter of opinion, which EVERYONE has.
I'd say the best one for you is one that fits you, you can handle without it being too much power/weight for you, doesn't break your bank account, and one you like.
