of course you will be welcomed in the hospital.but I really think it is important to attend the clinic or have your local gp follow you up regularly rather than just when you are sick.potential problems can be found and sorted ahead of time and generally you know what to expect.you get to meet other mums to be and lean what is normal and what is not.It also helps to get to know the nurses that will be helping deliver your baby.So it's ok to go to the doctor and not the clinic but not jsut when you are sick, you must make antenatal appointments with him.

Am I right in understanding you when you say she is NOT going to a doctor during her pregnancy.? Just plans on going when the baby is coming. ?

Some would say that is not safe. She really needs do go at least a few times to make sure everything is ok with her and the baby.

She does not have to go for the whole 9 months just a few in the begining and a few at the end.

She also needs to know that some hospitals do NOT deliver babys and will send her to another hosptial. Unless she is in full labor and the baby is coming right then and there. I live in a small town where the hospital does not deliver babys and you have to drive 30 minutes to the one that does.

prenatal care is extremely important.....there are alot of things that can go wrong with the mother and/or the baby during the pregnancy, she needs to be going to a clinic or something. If she cant afford it she either needs to find a free or low cost womens clinic or apply for medicaid. public hospitals will not turn anyone away for emergency care BUT she may not have alot of options available to her that other mothers have when they give birth. she will get the bare minimal care for her and her baby and that is it......why take that chance? plus there is always the what if something goes wrong.... if you have no insurance or whatever they have to treat you at a public hospital but you will still have to pay the bill .......a normal natural childbirth is around $1500......plus depending on the hospital anywhere between $3-5K for the mother and babys hospital stays. Ive never had to pay the bill due to insurance but I have seen the total bills ....a csection is around $3000 extra.....NICU care for a preemie (which is highly probable with no prenatal care) is around $2000 a day at the very least.....my son was born at 31 weeks and accumulated $128000 worth of bills during the first month ........and he wasnt in an incubator or anything. This mother really needs to think of her baby and get proper care for herself now to prevent problems.

the hospital is required by law to never turn someone away in a medical emergency. so they will not turn her away. if she has no insurance there is help out there. she can apply for free care, state funded health care and if she doesn't qualify i am sure the hospital will agree on a payment plan.

if you are sick and pregnant, you don't necessarily have to see a doctor. Depending on the illness. Prenatal check ups are important though.
