Unlike most other countries and the national newscasts where there is only 1 weather bulletin per hour or half hour, weather in local news is checked at the beginning, a couple of minutes later and immediately before the newscast closes. Furthermore, it seems as if the weather personalities and weather segments in local news are highly promoted.

If you only want your weather reports once an hour - that is fine with us.

You do what you want in your country and we will do what we want in ours.

Well from a social perspective it helps me plan my day. The weather changes so fast, so I often dress differently to match it. If I want to go out with friends or shopping for something I might wait if its going to be bad outside.

Scientifically, the US pioneered many modern weather devices and continues to be the worlds most heavily invested in research.

As far as TV personalities, its just another avenue for tv stations to create a viewer base. If you like the people, chances are you'll come back again and again.

I think it has more to do with a service to the farmer than any other.
