I've always driven an automatic and never driven a manual before. I am just curious about those "4matic" "shiftronic" drives, basically it's an auto with a manual override.....how do those work? I mean if you're on 3rd gear in auto, can just just shift to manual and go up a gear? or can you only use the manual override when you start from 1st gear?

My wife's Beemer has a trans like this.
In auto, you shift lever to the left, which puts it into SPORT DRIVE, which is still automatic, but the shifting is quicker, and the shift points (revs) are higher.
From there, move lever backwards, and you have to shift it manually.
Be careful, or you can overrev it if you're not paying attention.

Read the owners manuall. These transmissions are for poeple like you; that want the benits of an auto without a clutch or very little use of one. Some work differen than others. Every gear has a speed range. Eg. 1st gear 0-10, 2nd 10-20.

I have a four gear shiftronic transmission, and i can switch over from manual to automatic anytime i'm in drive, and change gears, no matter what gear i'm in. the only thing is there is a safety feature which will not allow you to shift sometimes and will make you remain in a gear until you change your spead. I can also switch my car over to second gear while i'm stoped.

the new ford fiesta has i tiptronic system. this means u can drive in automatic all the time. when u want to change gear manually there are 2 paddles behind the steering wheel. click the righthand paddle to go up a gear and the lefthand to go down a gear. when u want to go auto again simply press the automatic button.

when you shift from 3rd gear in auto to manual, it will remain at 3rd gear, there is no need to use manual from 1st gear.

you can switch as and when you like.

i'm thinking that through fact it substitute into floating out in the path of the sea, supposedly not very close to to different icebergs, and with the advance in temperature for the reason that then, it would be melted. besides the reality that it would be incredibly thrilling if it wasn't melted ^_^
