thanks everyone who answered, I am studying for a teacher training celta course..I know infamous means well known for something bad, a student would assume infamous is the opposite of famous but this is not so, that's why I want to know the opposite, many thanks in advance..

Definitely not infamous but could be unknown or obscure.

The correct word is the word 'unknown'.

Howerver we typically use the word 'infamous'.

'Infamous' doesn't mean 'not famous', it means famous for doing something wrong or shocking. I would use 'unknown' or 'normal'!
