May be its your washing powder, however, I was told by a very good washing machine repair man, that it is a good idea to put the washing machine on empty with a bottle of white vinegar in it to clear away the lime scale, saves on repairs!

I assume you are not overloading it. Usually they come in 5kg or 6kg versions in Europe. Also, check that you are using the right program for the right type of clothes, and a good detergent. Make sure, if there is a removeable filter, that you keep it clean of lint and obstruction. Check that the machine is emptying after every cycle, in case a coin or small object has gone into the water pump.
To 'clean' a washing machine, do not put any clothes in it. Select the hottest cotton program and let it run through the whole cycle without any detergent. The use of cold detergents these days allow machines to build up gooey gunk in the works. Hot flushing can clear some of it. Do this every six months or as required.
It is possible that the machine could have a problem. If all else fails, call in a repairperson.

Normally the soap tray has a plastic tab, usually in the middle, either on top or sometimes at the bottom. When you press this tab, the tray can be pulled completely out and easily cleaned in a sink with an old tooth brush. All soap trays are designed to be easily removed for cleaning. About the rubber rim you have to be careful what to use because it can be damaged with solvents or acidic detergents. I suggest that you clean it with a mild dish washing liquid and rinse it properly. In the future leave the machine door ajar so that it can dry between washes. If you can leave it open, it is even more better.

I must agree with Tick about cleaning your machine not being necessary. If it is an internal problem, your best bet would be to have a professional do it, or at the very least give you advice on how to properly clean the inside. If your machine is still under warranty, by all means have someone who is licensed to work on it come to check it out. You wouldn't want to void your warranty by removing the agitator only to find something unexpected and (possibly) irreparable.
I really wish I had better information for you. Have you checked any appliance repair forums to see if you can do a bit of troubleshooting. You might be able to get a solution on your problem there, just by the signs your washer is giving you while it's trying to do it's thing. Either way, I wish you the best of luck!

The detergent, etc, can build up after a while so the best solution - tried and tested - is to put your machine on a boil wash whilst empty. This is the hottest, longest cycle your machine offers.
That should do the trick!

Switch to a low suds detergent and make sure not to use too much...you can always put in at least half a cup of baking soda too. This is really good and helps the detergent clean the clothes and keeps suds low...

put a cup of soda crystals in the soap dispenser and run a full washing cycle on HOT. Then add a pint of white vinegar into soap dispenser and run another HOT cycle and your problem should be solved.
Maybe you are overloading the machine as well when you put the clothes in.

You know how you can get dishwasher cleaning chemicals, you put them in and run a cycle with nothing in it? Well you can get the same sort of thing for your washing machine in the aisle of the supermarket with all the washing powders etc.

You might be loading it too full. If the washer is too full and the clothes aren't agitating properly they won't get clean.
I do a lot of dye work in my machine, and I clean it by running a bleach load after a dye load and using double bleach.
