This is in regard to Karl Marx and Emile Durkheim and their perception of change in a capitalist society. How does the conflict theory then relate to this argument?

Seems that liberals look at new ideas without rigid reactions as to how these ideas compare to traditions. As the very word indicates, liberals are "freer" if you will, to explore new grounds and examine different alternative notions.
This much without getting too philosophical.

The only change that Liberals care about is if it differs from what Republicans want. Radicals? Exactly that. If we could change the color of the sky, they would want it blaze orange.
