where are ants going with those dead fellow-ants i sometimes see them carrying?

Home to eat them I expect. They may be ants from another mound who "died in battle" (some ants fight w/ others), but I doubt very seriously that they are carrying them home to bury them. I think they aren't likely to waste such an easily available source of food. Hope this doesn't shatter any illusions! ;-) Good luck.

They are using them for food and insulation of the colony.
