So I was just wondering which one any of you out there think is the better way to go. Thanks for your input...Have a great day, night, morning whatever...

I have an iMac and I love it. Its incredibly fast and holds more memory. It doesn't have the same-o same-o as every other PC has out there and one other great thing about it that I love, is the fact taht you dont have a separate tower to put your disk into. You have your mouse, keyboard, and monitor and the disk slide right into the side of the monitor. A total space saver! It has a neat little remote control to play DVDs, CDs or view your pictures, that magnetizes itself to the side of the monitor so you dont lose it. It as awesome graphics. And the webcame is built in too. Right on top of your monitor so no extra wires hanging around. And a plus is, if you still want to run windows on it, just buy the program that converts windows to mac and bingo, you got it all. But that's just my opinion. I have really enjoyed my iMac. Some people say they hate them but have they really tried it out? And they are guaranteed to get no viruses on it. PCs are always getting fixed because of that.

Oh and the person above me said something about the mouse, cuz people think it only has one button, all you have to do is change your settings on it and presto, 2 buttons. ;)

A PC is a Personal Computer. A Mac is a personal computer. Compare the price of a 2007 "PC" with what you are thinking of paying for an old iMac and you will realise what a waste of money most PCs are. Amongst the ridiculous ill-informed nonsense above someone said "There's nothing a Mac can do that a PC can't." which is almost true but if you want to keep everything legal than an iMac can run OS X which other brands of PCs cannot. The iMac can connect wirelessly to a MIDI system which some other PCs can if you add and configure Apple's Bonjour software to the PC. Etc. Etc. If you are interested in a real computer then the iMac has infinitely more to offer than some generic "PC" running a generic operating system such as Windows. If you can live within the limitations of the propriety Windows world and never need to venture outside into the world of real computing than a generic Windows PC will probably suffice. If you are only interested in the distractions infantile games then a generic PC will probably suffice. If you are easily seduced by sales people who convince you that the processor's clock cycle is some measure of "power" then a generic PC is probably what you need.

As a computer geek, I think the iMac and PC are both equals.

But my chosen computer would be the iMac, Powerbook, Mac Pro, ect.

The reason that I am stating this is because the Apple Computer is much more marvelous to look at. There is hardly a day when someone would see my Apple laptop over somebody else's Intel Pentium. The design of the Apple is always so pretty and it seems the makers of the PC tend to imitate the Mac.

Another bell and whistle is the Apple is more people friendly. The iCons are much easier to find as with the P.C. you always have to click on start or right-click to find your destination. With the Mac, it only takes a single click to get to your destination. It's neat when the iCons just pop up to greet you when you want to browse for something.

Another bell and whistle is the iPod and iTunes.

Do you see any snazzy P.C MP3 players that are top of the line? No, just iPod imitations. It's so unbelievable that P.C.'s now use iPods and have iTunes now. So why not start from the source. It's the Mac. There's also a Mac Probook that already has the Intel Pentium chip inside. So you see, Intel is dealing business with Apple.

What is the first thing that comes up during commericals and advertised so much in Pixar and SciFi films? What do you think movie producers usually rely upon on visual effects? What's more popular and great with the kids in school? They all use Macs.

And what will come up in the next 6 months and will be the hippest phone to have in the planet?

It's the iPhone. Just know when you get one, you'll be in style. And it will be much more hip than a Blackberry.

I rest my case.

It depends on what kind of computer user u are - r u a gamer or a casual user? Will u use the computer for word and other office work only or will u use it to edit pictures, music, videos etc?

There is a big difference between Mac and Windows. I'm going to focus on windows coz most pc use windows. I'm an extensive windows user and the first time I used a mac, I tried to right click and guess what - there is no right click in mac.

To answer ur question, there are several pts for and against each system.

Windows:
Very common. If u have a problem, there is a greater chance a friend of urs can help u than when u r using a mac. Same goes for software compatibility. Since windows is the predominant system, software developers are bound to make a version windows compatible especially games etc,

Against: Windows has a lot of security issues (vista excluded since I dont know much about it yet... talking about xp). Since windows is the most common os, virus developers design their viruses for windows. Same thing goes for hackers. Also, windows has a lot of security loop holes right from the start so... u get the point.

Mac:
Not so common. As such what's good for windows is less good for mac and what's not good for windows is better for mac. Less viruses, hackers etc. But also, less software and if u need help, u'll need to find someone who has mac to help u. Moreover, what kind of computers are other ppl using in ur household? This needs to be taken in consideration if u gonna have a local network. Making a network with windows only is a headache. So, if u have 2 diff systems... good luck getting the thing to work by urself.

Although it is easy to ask a question on the internet and have ppl answer it from anywhere in the world, dont forget, some problems can only be solved on site. As such for the problem issue, think about it. If u have friends who got mac and good, if not, think more about it.

In terms of hardware, I have absolutely no clue which one is better. From what I saw, I found the hardware for pc to be supposedly better... bigger numbers on processing power etc. However, mac is a totally diff os, so it might just not need as much power to run quicker than windows.

Finally, it depends how used to windows u r. If u have just started to use a computer and r still adjusting to windows, then there's no problem there. But, if u r used to windows like I am, then switching to mac will be challenging.

You'll hear both versions. I have been working with computers for 14 years now, programming mostly, and in all my companies we worked on PCs (that is, Windows - I have no experience with Linux yet), and all the while I had to take things home to do them on my Mac because on Windows anything to do with graphics, sound or video takes about 3 times longer to do. PCs freeze or die once a week; I have been running this Mac for 4 months with no hickups - not even a single restart, except for installing new software. Plus, if you are screwed by imbecile companies like I am, you can run Windows on your Mac now, natively and just a touch faster than on a PC, just make sure you buy an Intel-based iMac. And order as much RAM as it can take, on iMacs it's tough to do it alone and Apple is for some reason as stingy with RAM as all PC vendors.

Being in the graphics world I used a mac for years. I was forced to use a PC after a series of unfortunate events and believe me- they're way better! The left and right click function of the mouse comes in really handy in programs like Illustrator or Photoshop.
